My name is Mari, I am a mum of two girls and one boy, originally from Norway, but now settled in the UK.
Never in a million years did I think that one day I'd be advising other run down mums on how to improve their nutrition with small, incremental steps.
But here we are!
My story isn't especially different from a lot of other people, really. I was run down, not too happy with my weight, tended to fall asleep on the sofa most evenings, or next to my children when they went to bed. I thought that in order to lose weight I'd have to a) starve myself and b) exercise lots, because I just wasn't one of those people who could eat lots and still be slim. I also thought that falling asleep early each evening was normal, or rather, not something I could do anything about. It's part and parcel of being a new mum, right?
But I was wrong! And I expect that if you're reading this now, and have recognised a lot of yourself in the above, you may well also be thinking, "yep, not much that can be done here". And then we start defining ourselves based on lies.
Back in 2015 I had just given birth to my second daughter. I couldn't shift my annual winter cold. You know, the one that goes on and on and ends up being a dry cough that stays with you for weeks. That one. But a good friend recommended a couple of products to me, and since I trust her, I took her advice. What I didn't realise then was what an enormous catalyst that was going to turn into. Fast forward nearly 6 years and my whole diet has changed for the better. My weight is stable, my energy is so much higher, and the annual winter cold never reappeared. But perhaps more importantly, my experiences and the people I met brought me down a path of re-educating myself within the field of health. I am currently halfway through my diploma in Culinary Medicine and I help mums like myself make small steps to improve their own health and wellness. I can't think of anything more giving.
A lot of people tell me "but Mari, I can't do what you do, it's too much!". To that I simply say: I didn't think I could do this either. But it's about taking one small step at a time. Take that step and do it over and over again until you've got yourself a new habit. Then move on to the next step. Before you know it, you'll have come so far on your journey to better health.
I promise you, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve with one simple change.
To our health,
Mari xx
